Fremont Nicole (Oct. 22, 2001 - Jan. 30, 2009)

We lost Fremont a few weeks ago and we both miss her terribly. As you can see from the picture, she had personality plus. Jaci found her picture on the SF Humane Society web site and it was love at first site. She was Jaci's girl; a stray found on North Main. Although hesitant, Osborne and myself soon came to love her too.

Fremont was the most faithful and the happiest dog I've ever known. If one of us left the house she would wait at the back door until we returned. During Osborne's absence for a surgery, we were informed that she howled all day. In fact, we were very concerned that when Osborne passed, Fremont would have a very tough time adjusting. She learned everything she knew about being a dog from him.

She had some very quirky characteristics too. Most likely coming from her days as a stray, she was very protective of her water dish. Not in a mean-spirited way, though. She just liked being the first to drink as if she wouldn't ever see fresh water again.

She loved laying her head on your foot. She loved kids. Her relationship with the neighbor's grandkids was really something special. They yelled for her and grabbed her and she just ate it up. Being winter, we haven't seen them to tell them the news.

Fremont really has a special place in our hearts and we'll miss her forever.

There is nothing that I can say that will mitigate the pain you and Jaci feel, but I can share it with you. Losing members of your family that others refer to as pets is a painful nightmare.

May you two think more of the past good times than the present painful ones.

Sorry to hear about your loss. They are part of the family and the hurt is deep. Time will help you heal but their spirit will live on in your heart.

Sorry about your pup. You care for them like your own kids.

I'm sorry to hear the sad news. A good dog just has a sixth sense on how to cheer you up when you're having a bad day. You & Jaci were very lucky to have 2 great ones.
